I figured that if I needed somewhere to live then I might as well use it as a learning tool and project.

At first glance, there seems to a decent amount of value in several of the items... everything from 3 old Cadillacs that are in bad shape to old computer hardware, music equipment, power tools, hand tools, likely some antiques, etc. 

Having your license opens many doors that you wouldn't otherwise have such as earning referrals, gaining access to real estate tools that you may not be able to without a license, and you can become a trusted resource by obtaining other certifications that are only available with a license.

 So far,  it had been a good tool for tax deductions.

From my reading, it appeared they were collateralizing my chattels/non-realestate property, so my tools, furniture, etc.

They should be a neutral platform or tool, yet they seem to inject themselves into property rights a little too much for my tastes.
