I had a stupid tenant make a comment to me about smoke alarms and kind of to the tune of if you put that back up in the hallway and it starts beeping I'm just going to rip it out..I called the fire department from the parking lot,, said it was a non emergency,, that a tenant had threatened to tamper with my safety equipment and wondered what to do.. they came out and talked to the tenant right away.. never another word was ever mentioned from that jerk again.

If the lease is vague check your state laws and post a notice for entry with 24-28 hours (again refer to state laws) to perform a general safety inspection.....say fire and smoke detectors.
