I wouldn't give any meaning to the time of the year...rent is rent whether a holiday is close or not.

Like everyone else has said, payments can take 5-7 days when considering weekends and holidays, but it's free. 

I'm guessing the Saturday after the holiday or Wednesday before will most likely be when I'm able to break free.

Maybe u can buy condo in Thailand better, I bought a condo in Bangkok in 2014, now I can get monthly rent fee and also can spend holidays there if well arranged my condo, good luck to u!
