I am currently in CA and have an investment property in OH.

Now that Trump won the election, I wanted to get a discussion going about what potential impact this could have on towns along the Rio Grande Valley like McAllen, and Brownsville, Texas.The population growth in these towns has been great over the years making it a worthwhile investment.

Asset protection in case one of us getting sued (I think it was a BP podcast episode where a lawyer told the story about the son hitting someone with the car and the family of the kid that got hurt suing them and them having to surrender their house.)

I do have experience with significant home renovation but for a personal residence, based on my experience with this I would prefer to buy a property built after 1970 if possible but not sure if that's realistic, the only deals I could seem to find from the MLS are very old houses which I know often brings more challenges with the renovation.Would appreciate any references or suggestions anyone has, so far I've only invested in rental properties that were already in good condition bought with a loan.

Hi @Lake Bradford, there are some properties that are still available for rental and you can limit your search to those or you can consider buying and once you decide if you want to move elsewhere, sell the condo and take the equity/appreciation and invest in a home elsewhere.
