My dad and I did all of the framing, windows, hardwood flooring, tile, cabinets, and trim work.

(Being Vegas these are newer houses with tile roofs and your mileage may vary.

When we remodeled we decided to put down tile flooring in the kitchen, living room, and hall way area (open floor plan).

Here I can get tile laid for prices that are untouchable in some markets.  

Here we have heat pumps so I will check it out and such next week.I will do all the bathroom plumbing new fixtures and cabinet/door handles myself.Thinking about laminate flooring, I will pull old carpet up myself, tile in kitchen and bathrooms still good.

I went into Home Depot thinking I wanted ceramic tile, but the associate who helped me seemed to think click-lock vinyl would be a better option.I don't know anything about flooring, and figured I'd just hire it out, but I'm not opposed to DIY if the hourly return is high enough.

It's got a fantastic bed, tiled shower, granite tops, and the whole 9 yards. 

Lately he has hired out more and more things - roofing, electrical, plumbing, tiling.

Sometimes, you find useful things, though, or rather useful hints to the house's history.The most useful thing I've found in my current reno project is scraps of newspaper in a ceiling that pinpointed when the thickbed tile floor in the bathroom above was installed, 1945, between VE and VJ day.
