You're right I'm just SO excited to get up and get out there that my 10000 year old brain over ruled my 21st century brain and Said GO FOR IT MAN. 

A basement like that was built to outlast the structure above it by centuries.

My great grandmother was a seamstress and her quilts are mini works of art, made with scraps of family members clothing, hard to explain...we've been offered hundreds for her early 19th century ones.

As long as those home are well maintained they can last for centuries, Look to our cousins across the pond.

Matt:Salt air and spray are not friendly to composite roofs either.Lots of metal roofs here along here coast which are the better part of a century or more old.
