I did this when I lived in NJ had to go to the county courthouse and go on their ancient computers and pull each record.

The first time, the furnace was an ancient beast probably about 60 years old and came with the home. 

excellent idea.another idea is get some cheap labor , cheap laminate flooring, and some elbow greece to just replace the rental flooring from carpet to hardwood for the absentee landlord for a grand or two and call it day.

It already seems as though Greece is next in line to leave.
