I have been listening to the Bigger Pockets podcast for years ever since I was in High school I have read a few of the classic real estate books.

Then you can read a more in-depth book like The Book On Rental Property Investing by Brandon Turner or The Unofficial Guide to Real Estate Investing by Spencer Strauss.3.

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I would never recommend it unless you have the very best team in place that you trust like family.

- FYI: it's only illegal to try to rent it out, the property owner can usually legally live in a nonconforming basement unit.If you do all this you may still negatively cashflow each month, so make sure your income can cover and/or your cash reserves.If you do this successfully, you will learn more in 1-2 years than you would reading here on BP for 5+ years:)Good luck:)

Most professionals will recommend a separate LLC for every $1 million in assets, but I don't think that's necessary.
