There is often government money to subsidize refurbishing the old hotels/buildings to provide low income senior housing.I now live in these types of buildings and I can tell you from where I sit, that with more and more baby boomers retiring, there is a growing need for these units.

I'm telling new landlords not to believe a co-signer will give them a problem-free tenant, you won't have to evict.And the tenant with the baby daddy - they were smoking against the rules in the apt, and there were cigarette burns all over the carpet where it was obvious they'd dropped a cigarette and just let it burn out on the floor.

Way less tenant issues, in my experience as a senior now in 55+ housing. 55+ does allow a percentage of younger people, and there can be more issues there.And with all of the baby boomers looking for housing, I would also advise you to learn about subsidized senior housing.
