The day after our closing on Uptown Villas we received the news that the 100-acre University Mall property, is undergoing an urban redevelopment project that will be called Rithm At Uptown.

Many buy here and do well solely because of appreciation, but thats not sound investment strategy in my opinion.I recommend learning as much as you can about real estate within the BiggerPockets universe (forums, podcasts, books) and deciding on a niche that fits your comfort level, risk tolerance, and abilities.

All the jobs I had post university were management jobs and I always had a contract.

I believe steps 1-3 are universal, beyond that individuals can make personal choices with their money :) good luck! 

A lot of places in Florida are great, but Miami as a city is only 60 or so years old when you consider it was just a sleepy resort town until Castro took Cuba in 1959/60, now it's a legitimate global city and Ft.

However, this limits the places I can invest in, since I need to be in a reasonable distance from MIT and Northeastern University (where my roommate is attending).  

I think that Boston is going to continue to be hit very hard as the local universities and colleges go mostly to virtual learning this fall. 

Some suggestions on how to think about where you might look:I wanted something that was within a 2-hour flight/drive from NYC, so on the chance that I needed to go out there, I could do so and get there and back in a dayThink about areas where you have family/close friends that either have a base knowledge of that location and/or can provide a secondary reason for you to travel thereMake sure you pick a spot that has a diversity of industry, multiple universities nearby, and a compelling price-to-rent ratio (aka, low prices to purchase relative to the amount you can rent it out for)Cheers,Brian

I tried to make this series about PEOPLE because like you alluded to, transactions will come and go, but relate-ability to other people is universal.  

Conserve (a collection agency used by my University) - Amount owed $0 status reads 'Paid Collection' My credit score should be at a 640 (fico) with my debt paid down from 60% to 18%, but I want to be at a higher score so I can get better rates.
