Sell the house, move on and find a new house you can afford. 

I was planning to do that and then return their security deposit if the house is in good condition.

The schedule worked fine when I wasn't renovating a property, but the renovations took a good bit of time to self-manage.You may find managing stable properties doesn't take much time, but renovations or other work does.

Was house hacking in a single family home challenging ?

@Ted Akers  got it.. since It was not my business model I just fast forwarded to your default position..I have a proctor insurance account so I can insure for monthly fee. so house was protected for the few days I owned it.
