I don't have a direct feel for the situation but at first perception it doesn't look that good.Anybody who wants you to pay some type of money in order to hang out with them rather than just being happy with the value you bring them within your current relationship, is full of it.

I would want to know how many Section 8 properties they currently manage (although I wouldn't hang my hat on this alone - there is a PM company here locally that manages a lot of Section 8 and is terrible at it) and I would request references from 3 Section 8 landlords.

And I have never (in the long run) regretted hanging onto a property, even if (in the short run) I've stressed out about spending much more than I'd hoped to renovate it and considered committing arson on occasion (kidding) (kind of) (but really... just kidding).

I do agree hanging out at a box store looking for referrals early in the morning as was suggested is a really poor way to get a contractor.

Before we signed the lease, they were not forthcoming about the fact that the lawn directly in front of our house is “their yard,” and that they’d be hanging out (right in front of our windows ) on that yard regularly.
