Once upon a time people had this same shock to the 30yr mortgage, 30yrs have not been the standard since the dawn of time, 1954 to be exact is when 30's became approved for existing homes.

One guy came in and bid probably $50k over everyone else, who sat there in a bit of shock and he won.Unless you can get inside the property and check it out, an auction isn't a good first property.
