Two factors at play here.1) STRs generally appraise as residential homes, not as businesses based on multiples. 

There are some other dynamics that also will likely play a factor in making the situation great for investors...such as runup in home prices and interest rates probably created a permanent renter class of society. 

We will likely evolve our strategy once we start to see the numbers play out.

Hi Everyone, Im looking to get some advice on evicting a former owner who isn’t playing ball after a foreclosure sale.I purchased the Property on the 5th November, it appeared to be empty but turned out to be occupied.

To me, the best play out there right now is to go with the smaller cabins. 

They have an app that you can run comps on, play with rehab budgets, do ARV calculations as you drive for dollars and apply for the loan on the spot.

Sometimes having someone play devil's advocate is also useful.

The more you know about what is involved in renovations and repairs, the better suited you will be to take on any project.But, real estate is capital intensive.  

Is this the best play here?
