I started investing in rental properties in the Scranton area around  6 months ago, and I also just started doing Fix & Flips in the surrounding areas Olyphant, and Taylor, Old Forge. and I would love to ask if you are doing in this area please share your success stories in that area, I am really curious if people have seen success in this cheap market, and let's help each other with info,  I would love to hear from you, and help you with the knowledge that I gathered in this 6 months.Thank you  I would love to hear from you.

I have also heard some interesting stories about S8 renters- what is the real catch on this? 

Long story short, I am in a bad financial condition as of recently.

If your partner is a contractor and wants to keep busy, that could be a different story, but I at least consider looking at long term ownership plans and flipping as very different businesses and a lot to learn on both, so not sure I'd risk losing money and time dealing with flips.

The 3rd thing that has reshaped my entire opinion of the tax advantages of real estate, is seeing my 88 grandfather holding five quite valuable illiquid properties, long story short it’s a mess, it’s causing family drama, he is in zero shape physically or mentally to manage them, the all have cap-ex needs, again these were amazing buy’s literally multiple properties he bought for under 50k that are now worth over a million but there is probably a time and a place for owning real estate, so I don’t really have a need to own more than maybe a few properties into retirement.

I hear all these stories of people retiring less than 5 years into it; that would be great but not a deal breaker if it doesn't happen that way.
