Also want to know what's best to be used throughout the rest of the home...if one material will serve all areas well...I'm all ears.Also, i live in south Texas and it's very hot & humid here during most months...just in case that's a factor.Thanks

Especially in a state like Florida where there's lots of humidity and rain?

That water source can be high humidity in the air, but it needs a water source.

Many methods to get results however without combining them with a complete tear out of all of the worst effected areas the smell will return on the first humid day in the summer.Eliminating cat pee is a combination approach part of which will be to remove the most contaminated areas.....sub floor, drywall etc.

For example, not a good idea to use regular tile on floors (mobile homes "breathe" with temperature and humidity changes), best to use vinyl tiles that have beveled edge and grout with special pre-mixed grout especially made for these tiles or vinyl wood planks that "float" and leave half inch gap at the walls....same with carpet, need to leave half inch gap at walls, otherwise carpet will buckle and need re-stretching.

Cost was around $8k for them to essentially gut most of the lower level, remove all sheetrock and insulation, and dry out the lower unit with blowers and a type of humidity vacuum. 

Humidity can also cause it, if they didnt use the air conditioner trying to save cost.Wet mopping can also cause it. 

Exhaust fans should do just that, exhaust foul or humid air outside of a space.

Houston is flat out humid, throw in 100+ degree days, and it is bad.Dallas is about 10 degrees give or take colder. 

However, my concern is that the humidity in the summer heat of Florida might not be good for the apartment, which was completely rehabbed with granite counters, etc, just one year ago.
