There are people running into the harsh reality that they cannot pay rent or they cannot afford the place they are currently living.

My son in law is a black man, and I have seen over the years when people have treated him harshly.

Just a harsh fact here that must be said. 

At least the law ends up supporting the main point of people being able to choose their roommates, and hopefully if someone ever does go to court for advertising their taste, they won't be punished harshly lol.

You are in a tough spot here, and the honest perhaps harsh truth (as others have mentioned) is that you are very overpriced for the area.

I know this sound harsh (I’m dealing with this exact situation in Florida mind you).  

Yes, things cost more, I am not sure point of this, it's a rather universal known reality today, everything has harshly increased in expense. 

Most have been there for 10 years, so it feels harsh to just jump the rent, even though it's legal in Florida.  

I think the term "kick them out in the summer" is a little harsh, but it does make sense.
