I moved in and immediately replaced all of the carpet flooring in the house with engineered hardwood; I re-painted the entire interior; I replaced all kitchen appliances with new ones that I found at a discount at an outlet/scratch and dent; and replaced the water heater.

Is it hardwood, vinyl, carpeted? 

Resurfaced the hardwood floors.

We were able to find that under the old carpets was hardwoods!

Also trashed all carpeting and exposed red oak hardwood below.

Also, have you considered using a decent quality, pre-finished engineered hardwood floor (as opposed to solid hardwood)?

This is a "grandma" property that has new windows, and mostly needs cosmetic work like peeling wall paper, repainting, pulling up carpet to reveal beautiful original hardwood.

Can’t afford hardwood, house already has gorgeous mid century hardwood floors.Will be hiring a handyman/contractor.
