There are only about 3 or 4 different garage door manufactures, they have subsidiaries and different brands that they sell the same components under FYI. 

I've called the manufacturer and they said they have not heard of it.

I suggest you get a quote from a few contractors and contact the manufacturer for maintenance costs.
