Most of my knucklehead contractors always forget to turn it down at night so I am going to program the thermostat on each house.

I don’t know but once we replaced a programmable thermostat with a rotary one because a tenant couldn’t use the programable one...even already programmed and with a short “lesson.”

I had 3 career programmers with ivy league graduate degrees who had seen the property, had all monies in hand and were local. 

I have a programmer friend who's also looking to launch something using automation, nationwide, but since there's no congruency in RE data across the county, or even from city to city, the hurdles you'd have to over come can be daunting.  

The new unit had to have "thermostatic control" of their heat (meaning that they could not be at the mercy of whoever lived on the other side.)

I am considering landlord thermostats, but I know there will be complaints.

When it's ready we use a monitored security system;  programmable lighting;  neighbors & house sitters if necessary.  

It is run on thermostats which can be added  room by room so daytime temps in bedrooms and all rooms can be controlled when no one is home.
