This is market-dependent, but you'll only be in a more secure position if you consider appreciation as icing on the cake rather than the whole meal -- especially for your first purchase.As far as it being a good deal, well it might make money, it might not -- those questions really depend on your experience, how you manage, how you finance the deal, and your exit strategies.

Based on lack of tourism in the area, I'm thinking It will attract 10 day-6month corporate type people.Of those, I'm sure some will dine out literally every meal, but I also think some wouldn't stay with a dishwasherless kitchen.I wouldn't consider this as an investment if it wasn't basement of my primary residence: Worst-case scenario, it flops as a rental and I have a great space for entertaining and guests crashing.Thanks for all the suggestions everybody.
