As well as hiding from tenants, municipalities and creditors... this was never the intended purpose says Susan Pace Hamill, who worked for the IRS and helped shape LLC regulation.I know where I stand in my state as the above article hints- there is a big push for further regulation because of the slumlords of NJ.So what are the upsides for me?

Get a carfax and take it to a AAA auto body place and have them do their 100+ point inspection to find out if they are hiding any issues and what costs may arise with the car.

One thing you need to consider is that usually the popcorn ceilings or even troweled ceilings create a lot of dust plus it's an easy way for builders to hide imperfections and slam things through on cheap houses.If you scrape you might find a bunch of leveling problems and other things exposed that looks like crap unless it is coated and hidden in some way.The higher end homes here have the smooth ceilings just like the walls with heavy trim packages.
