I sued them, dropped some MLS pictures showing they had long knowledge of said tree, as well as some case law showing that tree was their responsibility previous knowledge or not....the city's lawyer had no case. she tried to offer me 1000 pre judgment, I told her offer time was before I sued them and ended up wasting my time in court.
