I buy under maintained/ under renovated but not abused properties in areas that have already started the upswing.

I was just hoping that there was something I could do to prevent them from abusing what seems to be a loophole in the system 

I was able before to argue my point with underwriter and get my application approved despite that they wanted to deny it.  

They'll deny they ever smoked in there and you aren't able to put cameras in there either.

I usually deny anyone with bankruptcies, so my thought was to have them pay up front and I wouldn’t have to worry about non payment.

You cannot deny the family because of the lead paint either, that's considered discrimination (you're refusing them because they have a kid) and is against the anti-discrimination laws of the state.

So I was a week out before closing on 2 unit in South Portland and the underwriter denied my loan.

And if so is it legal to deny an application based on this alone.
