I have a tax certificate for a property and I contacted Alfa insurance company and was able to cover the new property with a 1 million dollar umbrella policy for $185 per year.

In case I am in a car accident and I accidentally kill somebody the umbrella policy offers coverage.

If your current Insurance will not increase to $1,000,000 you may be able to satisfy the requirement with an umbrella.  

We plan to obtain homeowners insurance (obviously), landlord insurance and an umbrella policy.

Proper included $2 mil liability but I already have an umbrella policy, it was 5% hurricane deductible vs. 2% Fednat, $600K property coverage vs $900K for Fednat, $150K income loss limit vs $90K for Fednat, etc.

Make sure you're covered and have a good liability coverage and umbrella.  

Progressive can back at about 2k and liberty cam back with 1500+500 for umbrella.

Would an umbrella policy protect us from commercial claims if our coverage isn’t enough?

Each home is covered by a general liability policy, and then I also have a large umbrella policy over all of the homes.Last November we received notice that the insurance company was no longer going to work in the California market and that we would need to find another company to cover our homes.
