A couple of things to consider, the first code that is generated for each guest is long, 16 digits, however, guests can change it to a 3-6 digit one, and also once you create a code, there is no way to cancel it remotely, you have to be near the lock to cancel the code is you need to.

Not giving legal advice, but my understanding of the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act is that digital copies of a signed contract carry the same weight as the original copy.
