I find I can do well enough in real estate with old-fashioned on-market deals, or the occasional pocket listing from an agent, without having to deal with the properties or places that are experiencing turbulent personal problems.

@Allen Wu, In my area municipalities will occasionally fine people for high grass, garbage around the property etc, but if that were to happen at one of my properties (which thankfully it hasn't), I would simply bill the fine back to the tenant.
