I think you should choose to focus on either commercial or residential because there is not much cross over; the guys that buy commercial, typically, buy commercial exclusively and vice versa. 

The local index indicates that four new markets have crossed the recovery index benchmark this week -- Seattle, Rochester, N.Y., Las Vegas, and Los Angeles -- taking the total number of markets above the January baseline to eight.

I'm not sure where you are shopping in MA, but if it's near the CT border I'd be happy to give you a couple of referals that are licensed in both. 

My mom grew up in Hammond and I live on the Cook/Lake (but the Illinois Lake County) border.

If anyone can give me some advice or point me in the right direction as far as some of the foreign fees and taxes and other costs I have to take in consideration when shopping across borders.

In general I would useca system of cross checks to balance them. 

While an IRA account holder can administer their IRA and place capital to work, that much personal energy on the marketing and deal making side could cross a threshold of providing services/benefit to the IRA.
