Correct me if I'm wrong but this is how I see structuring my company1 set up corporation here in Canada2 use Canadian corp. to set up US C corp3 use US C corp to set up holding LLC4 use holding LLC to umbrella various state LLC's to function as company's that would be used for wholesaling, buy and holds and flips.

I see numerous threads on umbrella policies here, but I am still not 100% clear.  

As a general contractor, my company and the subcontractors that I used were required to carry at least 1M umbrella policy, unless the contract required additional coverage.

I have about 100 SEC 8 leases under our umbrella right now, and I think it's a super way for a new investor to start landlording.

I own a property in my personal name that is insured under my personal homeowners policy and also an umbrella policy.

If you are fully licensed, put some $ in insurances at leadt $1M coverage in all aspects of insurance, GL, WC, Auto L, Excess/Umbrella.

I've held multi family properties before in my personal name but always made sure that I had enough property insurance as well as umbrella coverage.  

Get an umbrella insurance policy. 

As far as insurance goes, we keep a healthy level of liability protection of each property, and we will be adding umbrella to the LLC as well.  

And those smart enough to have assest worth protecting know they need umbrella policies that they pay for each year...
