Unless you have a solid plan to turn this around, selling now and cutting your losses might be the best move.

Frankly I would be less excited at spending any kind of money on a place that I don't own.

The plan would be to move out after a year and rent my side out for $2,500 (market rent price).

I do plan to consult my real estate attorney who handled the closing but this is his busiest week of the year, so I definitely don’t want to bug him with something that isn’t extremely urgent until after the New Year.

If the question concerns retirement plans, this is one of the most specialized fields in finance - fortunately one of my best friends is an actuary!
