i know here when i look up the auditors website it will give the owners mailing address. might be a lot of work looking up person by person but it does give the mailing address.

I purchased an off market deal at 30k and the auditor has its value at 110k I'm not trying to claim it's worth 30 but it's definitely not 110.

There are a few ways to qualify and even though I consulted two attorneys and my CPA who all said they would take the credit I am still open to an audit and it would be up to the interpretation of the auditor to decide if I am entitled to all of this under the ambiguous 1/3 ways I qualify.

As for price, I'm leaning toward going with the Zillow price; when my dad passed away in 2018 and I inherited the house, I paid a licensed auditor to given me a price on the house at that time (which I used for depreciation on the rental); the Zillow price was almost exactly the same, so I'm feeling like I can make the same assumption now... ???

If that is correct, a home office deduction almost certainly wouldn't hold up under audit or examination, and would more likely than not lose in court.Hours spent reading BP, other online articles, browsing the mls are not trade or business hours.
