My slab was actually covered by asphalt.

You'll need to add the value and "equity" to the idea by investing the time and effort into building it, pounding the pavement to get it out there, and proving the concept.

The home is a complete redo with a leaky roof, slight hoarder house, unoccupied for the last 2 years, asphalt siding, new electrical......., you get it.

on a rehab sf flip....are there any thoughts, marketing data, or insight on what sells better as far as the colors of common asphalt shingles (black, grey, tan, reddish...)..?

I had pretty good luck with Craigslist when I looked for specific trades such as roofing, granite countertops, asphalt, painting, etc.

Remember, you also have to pay for things like pavement (or gravel) driveways, fences, gates, security, accounting software, website, lights, property taxes, insurance, and other things that don't make you any money while you work on renting it up. 

The house is bone dry, it has the asphalt paper and has already been prepped for stucco with the wire mesh, it has shingles on also.

I will hit the proverbial pavement looking for a lender as well now!!!
