This is a get rich sslloooow investment strategy.  

I just finished reading the book Poor Dad, Rich Dad and thought it was great.

After reading "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" I've come to realize that I'm done being an employee and want to start becoming an investor.

If I were still and college and had $20k and could talk to my old self I would:#1 - purchase and read/listen to a few books:Weekend Millionaire (Mike Summey, Roger Dawson)Rich Dad, Poor Dad & Second Chances (Kiyosaki)Think & Grow Rich (Napoleon Hill)Richest Man in Babylon#2 - Determine if Real Estate was something I could get passionate about by making a pros/cons list against my other passions. 

I was actually looking into a completely different business and came across Diane's book Loopholes of the Rich when this whole world opened up to me.

I read Rich dad, Poor dad last year and it took me about 9 months to convince my husband that real estate is how we can get our money to work for us.

As far as LA Meetups, this meetup was recommended by @Andrew LanoieHe recently spoke at the CashFlow Wealth Summit, along with Rich Dad Advisors like Garrett Sutton and Ken McElroy.Since I'm way out here, I haven't been able to attend his LA meetup, but it looks like a good one.
