There is still a very big traditional market, but i believe that companies will be spending less and less on traditional adverting such as radio and tv ads due to things such as the DVR and Pandora/iTunes.

While he may have said he was "flipping the home" it is probably just some jargon he learned from TV and he is not really an "investor" per say.

In my market, the traveling nurse program only pays $1,500 a month and that includes utilities, furnishings, TV/Internet, etc.

I have never been in your situation, however I have read about it and seen it on TV. 

The folks that do these TV shows are setting up "Real Estate Guru" classes and making a mint off people.

My day job is directing TV commercials and documentaries but am super interested in expanding the real estate portfolio, ideally to a point where the investment income can replace some of the TV commercials and I can spend more time on personal directing work! 

We were great savers but our retirement was not going to be like the TV commercials.

There is opportunity here and no famine, but it's not all rosy like the real estate tv shows suggest.
