Well, I now own a small portfolio of 4 homes in Detroit, which has posed a very challenging learning curve for me, and while it has not been a disaster as yet, it is far from what I was hoping.It has taken a lot of hard work (and obviously more money than expected), but it would appear that I am now beginning to see some light at the end of the tunnel.Despite my difficult start, I still belong to the school of believers in Metro Detroit and in its future, and am not averse to increasing my portfolio, but am doing it far more carefully now.I am planning a short visit to Detroit next month to review where I am, and where I am going, and would be more than happy to meet local players with a view to learning, partnering or just sharing insights.Thanks a lot,Saul

Here's whyThere are a lot of big players on this site with mass amounts of knowledge and we all know our $0.02 is welcome and accepted.However knowing the level of talent on this site it can still be hard to sign in because nobody wants to look stupid.I, myself have anwsered some threads and compared my thoughts to some of the others peoples comments and felt " Why did I bother' they know more than I do.We know we are welcome.

Hi Aaron, I went to school at Purdue (grad 06') and there was a few big players when it came to student housing so I'm surprised that complex hasn't been picked up yet.  

So I downloaded a app from Google Play called player FM.

A first-timer or unknown player wouldn't have been awarded the deal, they would have simply been outbid and then posted on BP that you can't find deals with this type of conservative underwriting! 

I see this Joe Calloway in the news, in the paper, and at the ACRE meetings sometimes and hes definitely energetic / obviously a big player (owns something like 400 houses).

Crowdfunding makes real estate easily accessible, however, in regard to institutional real estate investments, the advice of an expert who works in the industry every day, knows all the players and their track records, and performs due diligence on each offering is a great benefit to you and comes to you at no cost.I live in Silicon Valley, and I'm an investment advisor who specializes in real estate.

I have listened to all of the BP podcasts and from a few other players in this space.  

Maybe you become a more minor player in the deal.
