Lending money is one of the oldest scams in the book, recent regulations have cleaned up much of that.Another alternative in lending with fewer issues would be commercial business lending, talk to some pawn brokers, rent-to-own stores locally owned and used car dealers, you can get high yields, secured with inventory, I'd say it's easier than RE lending, but you still have due diligence, lots of it. :)

Long story short, I considered several TV stations that feature stories on scams, but I read a local paper, Newsday, that has a weekly column on money matters, in their Sunday "Money Section".

Now, right away, let me say to John D, please don't take any of my following comments the wrong way, because your story could very well be true and I'm honestly taking it as true, a 75 point gain in a short time frame is certainly POSSIBLE, so I'm not at all trying to challenge your truthfulness here, just wanted to make that clear.As far as these "credit repair services" go in real life, everything I've ever heard from a VALID AND RELIABLE SOURCE is that they're at best nearly useless and are only doing easy work anyone can do themselves for a large fee or much worse, that many are just total SCAMS!

Make sure this friend is talking about a legit source for this personal loan, and not some "give us a $1,000 application fee and we guarantee we can get you a loan" scam.

LOL.I have never seen any Act that specifically mentioned any individual scam transaction as the Dodd-Frank did in describing "Lonnie Deals"!

And many of them are former victims of the out of state investing scam.

Rent-to-own has a negative taste to it, most are scams and the others are made poorly even with good intentions.
