I wasn't sure how much faith I could put in someone's opinion if they were motivated to 'sell' me something.Anyways, I ended up writing a +3,000 Word post here on BiggerPockets going through my entire process, from surveying the whole country to narrowing down to a city, a subdivision, and finally even streets to avoid in a small 15 block radius.It took a while and I'm pretty detail oriented but if you're interested in reading about my process:Investing from OverseasI also run a meetup here in Korea (+300 members) and our members are focused on overseas investing as well as Korea investing.

You are, however, closer to JC Heights and, if you're farther east in Union City (closer to New York City) in that area you have really easy walking access to Hoboken.Anywhere on the eastern border of UC (Palisade or Park) is expensive, though usually quite nice, because (some) of those buildings have views of Manhattan and are right on the bus line.It's really very much block by block.
