Seeing as how frozen pipes aren't a real concern for atleast 6-9 months (if at all in your area), I don't think you have much to lose by letting her work on her own for as long as she needs to to get the heat back on.

When that "cash" part is in the form of equity, it is frozen/dead cash, and of no use...and of less value than if it was liquid cash.If you use your additional cash to pay down the mortgage, you are only shifting that cash from a liquid state to a dead state.
