With the number of products coming out for electronic locks, I really don't see the need to bother with services such as these.

I do not do this, but do not know of a major reason as long as you can electronically transfer the money into another account after they do it. 

And why should you cover the fee, it wasn't your fault.You can now require the rent be paid with cash or electronic transfer because of the bounced check.
