I've been asking my contractors for their W9, and sometimes they just e-mail me their SSN/Tax ID.Is this enough, or do I actually need a W9 from them?

I got stuck at the 'Gain or Loss Worksheet' line b :"Any depreciation you took — or didn't take but could have taken — for any business or investment (rental) use of your home other than home office use"So I did Schedule E and Form 8582 and using some ballpark numbers I quickly realized that :since my MAGI > 150K, I won't be able to take any passive loss deductions on my 1040. 

So I had a Schedule E for last year's tax return.

I am once again humbled.If I could get over my hesitation with taking on substantial rehabs so far afield, there have been several opportunities in your city which would have been fun and profitable.After you get this gem polished, if you want to take a run at a duplex or quad, I'm only an e-mail away ...

I also have just received an e-mail from my local REIA.
