I have two properties I am planning to rent as mid-term (30 day minimum) rentals with intent to market to travel nurses/digital nomads.

However, I'd be surprised if you weren't able to make house hacking a duplex work numbers-wise in medium-sized markets and larger, especially if you are willing to set up the vacant side as an STR in a travel market with reasonable STR regulations.

I would just have all my STR'S in country and use that money to travel to where I wanted to go.The only way I would consider it is if the returns were way higher than a U.S. location.But that's just me. 

I lived there for a number of months until I started traveling for work. 

Rarely do we have traveling nurses.

I don't drink or smoke and I don't have cable.

So if you want to profit $200/mth per property, and you want to live off of just that income, and lets say you can live off on $50k/year (which won't make you a world traveler), then you are looking at 20+ properties.

Most of the problems are reported by other residents, noise, smoking, smoking dope, fighting at all hours and confronting the good resents who report the problems.  

That way you could make sure the plumbing fixtures aren't leaking, the air filters are changed and smoke alarm batteries are changed.
