You'll want to look into creating an entity of some kind to protect yourselves. 

Johnny, My spidey senses tell me that if your company is big enough to offer a discount employee share purchase plan someone in the finance department or the IB that took them public made sure the shares have to vest for a nice LONG time.

Have an LLC drafted that protects everyone's interest.

I would say get the drawings, it's an additional layer of protection against cost increases on the construction side.
