He just never understood his insurance well enough and so got pretty screwed up since he never bought insurance for himself.Just to comment on the rest:  I've only heard of the trust just helping with hiding your assets, but as Kohler's book points out (and others), during court you should be disclosing all your asset anyway... 

I've done this when I've bought on the exchange, and if the seller has nothing to hide then he/she should have no problem providing it.  

We have been worried for several years that smaller operators were just ignoring or hiding from the changes that are already in place and the ones that are coming and it is apparent that a number of you are actually paying attention.On the issue of MLOs and Attorneys originating these loans...We used to recommend this, provided the MLO or the attorney was using the correct system to do so and the correct relationship agreements.

Just look at all the posts on here from people wanting to hide bad wiring or plumbing, or looking for some way to get out of doing necessary maintenance and/or push that maintenance off onto the tenant.  

I've always said, "If someone is trying to hide, then they've got something they want to hide."
