My monthly expenses with two car payments, insurance, and various repairs and miscellaneous expenses (washes, oil changes, etc)  are about 1500/month.  

People today can eat without ever cooking, let alone hunting or farming, sleep without ever building a house, and chores like washing and cleaning involve pretty much setting timers and pushing buttons or hiring someone to do it for you.

I am assuming that they have washed their hands of this property as its under water.  

It's the knock you hear in the line when the dishwasher stops filling or the washing machine stops filling.

You can sear it first if you don't mind an extra dirty pan to wash; I don't bother.Add a bit of liquid, maybe an inch in the bottom of the pot: red wine, broth, brandy, water with a Tablespoon of soy sauce, or coffee (yes, coffee).Sprinkle some seasonings on top of everything: onion powder, a clove of fresh garlic, chili powder if you are going Mexican, basil and oregano if you are going Italian, maybe a can of cream of mushroom soup.

I have to wash my mostly nonexistent hair then watch the paint dry someplace.

If there are outside spigots someone could be stealing the water or a tenant and their friends and washing cars and letting the outside spigots run all the time.
