So I bought this house in Montgomery Alabama sight unseen on eBay for less than 4k$ it seemed like a good deal not in too bad of shape a previous duplex a few miles from Alabama state.

@Anastasia Jordan i don't know poop about Alabama tax law, however my philosophy is if the desire is to ultimately get the property, then I move as quickly as possible.

I have purchased a tax certificate for a property in Jefferson county Alabama from the state.

Auburn, AL because it's my hometown, I'm familiar with it, the university probably isn't going anywhere, if you're patient, you can find a deal, during the real estate downturn, Auburn was one of only like 15 or so cities where the property values still went up (at least one year--there was an article about it lol), nearly 50% of the population are renters, and the list goes on.
