@Joe Kelly Real estate investing is a numbers game, not an emotional pursuit.

If all self storage is that change temporary due to the crowded multifamily space or is that pivot you made a permanent one because you are liking the returns and investment strategy better?

I want to make sure I am firm and professional without taking on an immature emotional response.

I will obviously not compensate for additional food, but what about temporary living accommodation expenses, such as a hotel?

When I choose tenants, I lean toward people who will see the rental as their home instead of just a temporary place. 

They can make it look like a great investment but only works out of the change is sustained and really improves the neighborhood and not temporary due to speculation or a short-term impulse.Maybe a good way to combine our ideas would be to say: 1.

If your wife tells you she wants to live in a certain neighborhood because of the school district, this factors greatly in your purchase.Investment = purely dollars and senseLifestyle = emotion or some other influencing factor involvedCan they be both? 

However, it turns out my construction loan won't pay for the entire project as I had originally hoped, so I'm going to build up cash savings the next six months to pay for all the non-loan covered costs out of pocket (Loan will cover excavation and house build; cash will cover appliances, exterior paint, driveway/walkway, permits, closing costs, temporary fence/toilet rental for contractors, etc). so I'm not terrifically in debt at the end of the project.

There are many better investment options including many in local RE (I am sure there are quite a few agents on this site who could point out many on the market today that will project a better return).Do you have an emotional attachment to this home?  

In my experience The sad truth is most section 8 tenants are not good folks who are just going through a temporary hard time in life until they get back on their feet , that just isn’t the case .
