With the current tide of taxes going lower, many are speculating on large budget short falls, which would imply taxes will need to increase in the future.

Has anyone heard anything concrete that the definition has changed, or are we just speculating?

Spec building = "speculative".  

Though it is nice and can be somewhat predictive, it is still a form of speculation.

However, at that point you aren't investing, you're speculating. 

We never buy expecting appreciation, that's speculation.

What I love about biggerpockets is that I am learning from the talented investors here how to not be such a speculator in real estate.
