Smart Siding or cement siding instead of basic hardboard, Cheap Vinyl windows or a higher grade window, if you're building in Texas - Class IV shingle or a cheap 3 tab that will need replacement the first golf ball sized hail storm that rolls through, thoughtfulness that went into rain runoff/drainage etc then use your judgement.Are the interior doors cheap hollow core synthetic materials with an engineered wood frame or did they use solid wood frames and MDF for the trim or did they use a quality hardwood less prone to damage like Oak/Ash etc.I'm probably going into too much detail, however I pay attention to small things like that as in this new construction build I want to idiot proof as much as I can.

All paint intact - no peeling or chipping

There are areas such as Ferndale and Royal Oak that are quite popular with the younger crowd and rental rates are great.

It's sad, you and I pay for these money-sucking lawsuits - when we renew our policy and when we are forced to overbuild and overcompensate for the idiots out there who will eat the paint chips, or in this case, kill their neighbor on your property. 

The paint on the kitchen and bathroom cabinets is chipping off here and there (small chips) because they were painted over - probably will have to keep being re-painted unless they are re-surfaced.  

It is just hard to bet the way you want to with so few chips sitting in front of you at the table. 

I used the Nashville Oak in my last rehab and it looks amazingly like real hardwood.

If any members of the family have hearing problems, install one for the hearing impaired.The entire unit, both inside and outside, including window frames, must be free of cracking, scaling, peeling, chipping and loose paint.
