Househacking is a huge, foundational move for anybody who undertakes it.The area that's going to work best for househacking is the area where you want to live.

@Alan Ford, Figuring out local statutes for each area will be a huge undertaking. 

This has been a huge undertaking, a great, but challenging learning experience and since we are finishing up the big ticket items is finally becoming a huge financial relief.

@Daniel McNulty, @Taylor L. and @Charles Carillo all speak from experience that defining goals is the #1 thing every investor(person really) needs to do before undertaking the task.And @Jesse Daconta and @Bo Goebel are absolutely on track IMHO that education is so important on your journey. 

The thought of 6 thinking emotional adults undertaking a newbie STR adventure is both exiting and scary.
