I recently just came from Norfolk VA; and now stationed in California, MD.  

I currently have an older property in the lougheed area, but within walking distance from Lougheed Skytrain Station.

If you are only going to be stationed there for 2-3 years, why not rent a place that is close to work and that you will enjoy living in (within your BAH), and then invest somewhere else where you can have positive cash flow.

One of my favorite stories is a local investor who purchased a parcel of land that is that entryway to a gas station.

I want to invest in a place where there is upcoming new development - new factory, train station, corporate office or shopping center.For example I know that recently Amazon open new warehouse in Euclid.Is anyone know about new development in cuyahoga county?

@Nick Mulligan I originally planned to do FHA but the property I bought was disqualified from the FHA loan because of the proximity of a gas station (FHA requires a certain distance from a gas station to qualify, think it has to be more than 300ft ).

That is a side road where they tried to sell the gas station and parcels for commercial development in the past for the corner.

In our area, as an example, Duke Energy has a deal where people can pay their power bills in gas stations, hardware stores, etc. 

The thing i am worried about is repeating my mistakes i dealt with for many years, prior to the 2008+ housing crash, i had bought multiple houses around the USA as i was re-stationed in the military.
